ATTR - It is definitely painful. Even with a conservative interpretation of "women should not speak in church", I can't figure out how reviewing a retreat translates to something sinful.
I also noticed that in addition to the lovely bowling skirts, the plastic smiles and the silence....most of these ladies are very petite compared to their big strong husbands which just makes the whole thing freaky to me (wives submit to your husbands or else even though he's twice as big as you he'll slap you around because its his right). I don't like men anymore with the exception of all the ones who read your blog, like Barry :)
I get what you mean, Barbara. There is an aspect of that mentality that can lead to violence, though I doubt it's rampant.
On another subject, my husband is the extrovert and I'm the introvert, but I'm better at public speaking. That's typical of introverts, believe it or not.
I've heard that's common, but I haven't researched the reason behind it. I'm fine in front of a crowd if I'm prepared, but I'm not so good at improvisation in front of a crowd. On the other hand, small groups (say 10) I'm fine even if unprepared. But make me talk to a single individual that I don't know, and you might as well shoot me.
Apparently possession of a vagina makes Christians unable to speak.
ReplyDeleteThat's definitely point #1. That is just wrong on so many levels.
ReplyDeleteWell it's just fine if you're from Stepford.
ReplyDeleteWatching the mute wives is just painful. Also, they're not wearing head coverings...
ReplyDeleteI hope the women are just as quiet in bed!! Serves the men right! No wonder pornography is rampant among christians. No one wants that in the bedroom!
ReplyDeleteLoved the bowling skirts!! Keeps those nasty men from looking at your lady junk!
LOL @Ruth! No kidding.

ReplyDeleteBarb - You crack me up! Yes the incessant wearing of skirts was also interesting to me. I mean, bowling?

ReplyDeleteP.S. I lied. I love men.
ReplyDeleteBarbara, I'm twice as big as my wife, but as she's an extrovert while I'm an introvert it's not me who does all the talking :o)

Erin, that's interesting. It's the same with me and Sam - she's terrified of public speaking whereas I'm entirely comfortable in front of an audience.

ReplyDeleteReminds me of a movie...'The Stepford Wives'.
ReplyDeleteOh, I just read that comment from someone else :-)
Hi Anonymous. Yes, stepford is a very apt description.
