  2. Erin, I have been working out for about seven years now. Not religiously. But it would add up to about six months a year. I would never have kept at it if I had to keep "GOING" somewhere to do this. So I spent $300 dollars at Sam's club and got a very good set of weights, with an all purpose rack. Since there is no "GOING" anywhere, and I can dress as I want, make the noises I want, look as icky as I get and not worry about those around me thinking anything about me. For cardio I just walk/run up and down a good sized hill by my house. Another motivation may be that I am amazingly cheap. $30 a month for a gym membership over 7 years is,$2520 vs the $300.

  3. Erin ~ I am a certified personal trainer and you know what, I do that to...how funny is that!!

I once heard something that stuck in my head and there is a lot of truth to it. The hardest part of going to the gym to work out is getting dressed. Once you do that, you will do something.

  4. I walk to the gym which is just as well after seeing this!

Reminds me of this quote I heard: I exercise early in the morning before my brain knows what I'm doing.

  5. Nate - I actually have a really nice treadmill here at home, which I used faithfully for several years. But I really needed to add some weights to my workout and my knees were beginning to complain so the elliptical's at the gym are way better for me. I can't afford a good ellpitical right now...so I pay less than $20 a month for the Bally near my house.

  6. Mike - It's good to know I'm no the only one who struggles some days. Some days I don't have trouble going, but sometimes I do this debating in my head.

  7. Susan - I know what you mean about doing it before my brain realizes it. I usually go early, around 7 AM, and it works.
