Christians Confess

I was tagged today by John Smulo and I am more than happy to comply. This is an important one.
    Directions as provided by John:
  1. Apologize for three things that Christians have often got wrong. Your apologies should be directed towards those who don't view themselves as part of the Christian community. Alternatively, apologize for things you personally have done wrong towards those outside of the church.
  2. Post a comment at the originating post so others can keep track of the apologies.
  3. Tag five people to participate in the meme.
  4. If desired, send an email with the link to your blog post at the Christians Confess site, giving permission for your apologies to be added to the website.
So I have been thinking about this all day today. Here goes.
  1. I'm sorry for the times I have challenged, insulted, or condemned you for believing differently than I. Your spirituality is just as valid as mine, even if we disagree on the expression.
  2. I'm sorry I voted to legislate reproductive and sexual issues. I now realize those issues are for the individual conscience to decide, not the state to dictate.
  3. I'm sorry I have misrepresented Jesus so badly in the past. He is not a man of rules nor a God of anger. He is the ultimate and perfect expression of unconditional love and acceptance, who came to earth so that we might all have life eternal.
So now to tag 5 of you....

Cindy (can you get to another meme?)
Jim
Sonja
Glenn
Heather

I think I will do as John did and say:
"I also tag the first five people in the comments below who say they'd like to participate."

Don't forget to leave your link at the original post at John's blog, and e-mail him using the contact form at the Christians Confess site if you'd like him to use your apologies there.

This if the blogsite of a former pastor. (I tinhk, he says he lost his ministy) He talks about what he calls Post Traumaitc Church Disorder, or PTCD. It is very insightful, and instructive. He is on his third part, but I would suggest reading from part one on through.
