I want to point you guys to something else I really enjoyed about the RevCon:
Agents of Future (MySpace)
These guys are part of the worship team at The Bridge, and at the conference they did a song called "Peace on it's Feet":
Some things are worth the fight
So I won't walk away
I won't walk away this time
Your majesty
Is plain as day
but you choose the small and weak
So I can say that
My joy is my peace on it's feet
Your Spirit makes us
All the same underneath
Help me believe, help me believe in you
Help me believe, help me believe in you
It was one of the most passionate worship experiences I have witnessed in a long time, and I'm a charismatic. So that's saying something. These guys (and gals) were just full on into it. I guess I have to qualify that by saying I was trying to recover from a raging migraine that afternoon, and this song really calmed my spirit and helped me tune in to God. In any case, I really needed this, I know worship, real worship and not choruses, is something I am really missing. Maybe that's a clue to something going on in me. I have had an almost physical aversion to worship music for well over a year. Maybe that's ending. Maybe this song ushered in something new.So I won't walk away
I won't walk away this time
Your majesty
Is plain as day
but you choose the small and weak
So I can say that
My joy is my peace on it's feet
Your Spirit makes us
All the same underneath

Please check them out at Soundclick - try "Peace on it's Feet", the third one down I think. It's a little rough because it's live, but I don't think that detracts from the impact. It's my favorite. I could be wrong, but I wonder if it's based on something Anne Lamott said, "peace is joy at rest and joy is peace on it's feet".
Heck, try them all.
Hey! That's my favorite of their worship songs!! He and Angie led worship this last sunday...I don't remember which song they were doing(unplugged) and Todd broke out into the most beautiful bluesy rendition of the old hymn "I surrender all"....it was pretty incredible. Glad you got to hear them!!!
ReplyDeleteHi Donna,
ReplyDeleteI really did enjoy them. Nice to hear from you!
good eye, lily, yes, it is a line lifted from anne lamont.
ReplyDeletei'll find out when they lead worship next so you can consider coming out to The Bridge and worshipping God with us. All the worship teams at the Bridge are special and honest and raw, but Todd and Angie set the bar.
I'll get you their cd.
Aww, you're so sweet. I've been listening to some of their stuff online, but a CD would be cool.
ReplyDeleteLilly, thank you so much for what you said about "PEACE ON IT'S FEET"! Rarely do Todd and I hear from people how much a song touches them, at least not enough for us. I love that you got it. The passion and fervency didn't scare you away but you wanted more. That's how I feel! I feel... the music should be a catylyst and we should be able to use all means necessary for expression (ie. screaming, banging pots and pans, riotous dancing whatever). Most of the time I think this is scary for THE CHURCH, but I'm determined that it's people (the church) should be totally free to express to God however that looks. I know I'm going on and on but it felt so good to know that you got the music and it meant something to you. thanks
ReplyDeleteHi Angie - Wow! Thanks for stopping by! Did a little birdie tell you that I posted about this?
ReplyDeleteAnyhow, I really did get it, it meant a lot to me that day. Like I said, I have had a complete aversion to *any* kind of worship music for about 2 years, but you guys are the definite exception. It was awesome!
