... but I think the issue is too important to ignore. I don't want to be overly opinionated here (well, OK, I guess I do). I was frustrated by the issue, but especially after reading Gary's three posts ( here, here, here) on the subject, which include quotes I had never heard before, I can't keep silent. I especially liked Gary's comparative analogy using race, instead of gender, as the issue.
People Against Fundamentalism will be picketing Mars Hill on November 19.

We simply want to show Mars Hill congregants and the rest of Seattle that we will no longer tolerate Driscoll’s view of women."It really is sad that it's bad enough for people to want to picket, but maybe it needs to be done. I'm not into divisiveness in the church (well...), but this is about the equality of all people, which I believe is pretty well covered in the New Teatament.

Thanks for stopping by my blog! Yes, I agree that picketing is needed in this case to get a clear message across. Its a peaceful way for a large group of people to say "HEY, this is what we think of your statement about women!"

ReplyDeleteAnyhow, thaks for your thoughts on this. It seems like the blogs I read are split, some saying picketing need to be done, some saying it's divisive. I think that if the issue was racist instead of sexist, you know there would be an uproar.
